PDF Full Form is Portable Document Format. PDF is a file format that has captured all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that you can view, navigate, print, or forward to someone else.  One feature of PDF documents is that they have the property to encapsulate details of a fixed layout flat document, along with all the necessary texts, graphice, fonts, and other details necessary into a PDF. It was developed in the early 1990's to view document as an electronic image that can be printed or forwarded to someone else.
There were problems associated with such versions like slow download speed of PDF files, poor reading capabilities of PDF files, etc. PDF files are especially useful for documents such as magazine articles, product brochures, or flyers in which you want to preserve the original graphic appearance online. A PDF file contains one or more page images, each of which you can zoom in on or out from. You can page forward and backward. Today PDF file are used for documents such as magazine articles, product brochures, or flyers by many big websites.
