MIS Full Form is Management Information System. It is a computerized study of people, technology, organization and relationship. Firms uses MIS professionals to calculate the benefits from investment in personnel, equipment and business processes. A management information system is a subset of the overall internal controls of a business covering the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures by management accountants to solve business problems such as costing a product, service or a business-wide strategy. Management information systems are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization. Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision making, e.g. Decision Support Systems, Expert systems, and Executive information systems.
It is a people-oriented field and uses computer systems and technology to manage and analyze data so it provides correct results. MIS is used in major companies for preparing databases of customers and other information. MIS can also have software which helps with data resources, decision-marking, hardware resources, applications for project management and people management, etc. or Management information systems are methods of using technology to help organizations better manage people and make decisions. Managers use management information systems to gather and analyze information about various aspects of the organization, such as personnel, sales, inventory, production or other applicable factors. Management information systems can be used to evaluate the performance of the organization as a whole, certain departments or even individuals. Other management systems, such as supply chain management and project management, are often included under the label of management information systems.
