BIOS Full Form is Basic Input/ Output System. It is  an acronym for Basic Input/Output System and also known as the System BIOS, is a type of firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process. It is IBM PC compatible computers to provide run time services for operating systems and programs. The BIOS firmware is built into personal computers, the first software they run powered. The name itself is original  the Basic Input/Output System used in the CP/M operating system in 1975.

 It is Originally to the IBM PC and  the BIOS has been reverse engineered by companies looking to create compatible systems. It is  interface of the original system serves as a de facto standard. The fundamental purposes of the BIOS in modern PCs are to initialize. It is  test the system hardware components and to load a boot loader or an operating system from a mass memory device. The BIOS additionally provides an abstraction layer for the hardware a consistent way for application programs. It is operating systems to interact with the keyboard display and other input/output devices. It is Variation in the system hardware by the BIOS, uses program BIOS services instead of directly accessing the hardware. It is MS-DOS (PC DOS) which was the dominant PC operating system from the early 1980s until the mid-1990s. It relied on BIOS services for disk keyboard and text display functions.

 BOIS is denotes the software stored in the tiny memory chip in the motherboard of a computer. It helps the software in booting process once on the power. This software is work as apart of personal computer to aid booting and It BIOS is also called ROM BIOS or System BIOS or PC BIOS. BIOS also helps in identifying  the hardware of the system such as and  floppy drive, CPU, hard drive, memory, optical drive, etc. BIOS is implementation  specifically designed for it to work with specific motherboard or computer model and Conventional computers had BIOS stored in the ROM chips of motherboards. It is  modern system have BIOS contents stored in the flash memories.

Most BIOS implementations are designed to work with particular computer or motherboard model. It is  interfacing with various devices make up the complementary system chip set. It is Originally, BIOS firmware was stored in a ROM chip on the PC motherboard in the modern computer systems. The BIOS are content  stored on flash memory so it can be rewritten without removing the chip from the motherboard. This allows easy updates to the BIOS firmware so new features can be added and but it also creates a possibility for the computer to become infected with BIOS rootkits.


For Extensible:- Firmware Interface (UEFI) was designed as a successor to BIOS. It is aiming to address its technical shortcomings. As of 2014 new PC hardware predominantly ships with UEFI firmware.
