EDP Full Form is Electronic Data Processing. It is Use of computers in recording classifying, manipulating and summarizing of data, and is calls Automatic data processing or information processing. EDP is use an infrequently term for usually call information services or systems management information services or systems. It is the processing of data by a computer and its programs in an environment involving electronic communication. This uses relatively simple activities to process in large volumes of like information.

 It was first commercial business computer developed in the United Kingdom in 195. It was by J. Lyons and Co. catering organization and was developed as the 'Lyons Electronic Office' or LEO. It was widely use during the 1960s and early 1970s. The Joe Lyons was formed a separate company to develop the LEO computers and Thereupon was merged to form English Electric Leo Marconi and then International Computers Limited. It were stave in card manufacturers Hollerith Powers-Samas IBM end of the 1950s and also marketing an array of computers. Its early commercial systems were installed exclusively by large organizations. These could afford to invest the time and capital necessary to purchase hardware. The software develop bespoke  and work through the consequent (and often unexpected) organizational and cultural changes.

 It has moved industrial  in most cases from a custom-order, craft-based industry. Where the product  tailored to fit the customer to multi-use components taken off the shelf to find the best-fit in any situation. It Mass-production has greatly reduced costs and IT is available to the smallest organization. LEO was hardware hard for single client Intel Pentium and compatible chips standard. Its are parts of other components become combined as needed.


 Its Software is available off the shelf. It is different from product such as Microsoft Office and IBM Lotus. There are expert packages for payroll and personnel management, account maintenance and customer management. These are highly specialized and intricate components of larger environments, but they rely upon common conventions and interfaces.
