What is the Full Form of ISDN?
ISDN Full Name is Integrated Services Digital Network. This is a set of communication standards for digital transmission simultaneously with voice, video, data and other network services on traditional circuits of the public switched telephone network. This was first defined in the CCITT red book in 1988. Prior to ISDN, the telephone system was seen as a way to transport the voice, with some special services available for the data. The key feature of ISDN is that it integrates speech and data on the same line, which is not available in classic telephone system. The ISDN standard defines several types of access interfaces, such as Basic Rate Interfaces (BRI), Primary Rate Interfaces (PRI), Narrowband ISDN (N-ISDN), and Broadband ISDN (B-ISDN).
ISDN is a circuit switched telephone network system, which provides access to packet-switched networks, designed to allow digital telephone sounds and data on ordinary telephone copper wires, resulting in potentially better analog phones Voice quality can be provided. It provides circuits-switched connections (for either voice or data) and packet switched connections (for data) in the increments of 64 kilobytes / s. In some countries, ISDN found major market applications for internet access, in which ISDN provides maximum 128 kbit / s bandwidth in both upstream and downstream exclusively.
